Youth Opportunity Pass
All riders 18 and under can ride MTS and NCTD services for FREE through the SANDAG Youth Opportunity Pass pilot program.

Get a PRONTO Card
Visit the MTS Transit Store, NCTD Customer Service Center or select retail outlets* to get a PRONTO card. Cards are available at ticket machines* for $2. (*Must load a minimum of $3 at ticket machines and $5 at retail outlets.)

Download the App
Download the PRONTO mobile app and register using your email address to get a virtual PRONTO card. Then, use that same login info to track/manage your account online.

Earn As You Go
Get the best fare, every time! Tap or scan each time you ride to deduct a one-way fare. You’ll never pay more than a Day Pass in a day, or a Month Pass in a calendar month. *COASTER services not included in Earn As You Go.

Tap or Scan
Look for the purple validators at station platforms or on buses to tap your PRONTO card or scan your mobile phone QR code or you can tap PRONTO cards at MTS Trolley station ticket machines. You must tap or scan before boarding. Every trip – every time!

Riders load money onto their PRONTO card or mobile app, then tap or scan each time you board. A one-way fare will be deducted each time you ride. You’ll never pay more than a Day Pass in a day, or a Month Pass in a calendar month. *COASTER services not included in Earn As You Go.
Day Passes will not be available for pre-purchase (except for the COASTER). Riders can still purchase a Month Pass in advance. Month Passes are valid from the first through the last day of the calendar month. The COASTER will require upfront payment for Day and Month Passes.
Riders can load cash value onto their PRONTO cards at ticket machines, retail outlets, and the MTS Transit Store or NCTD Customer Service Centers. Riders can buy one-way fares on buses with cash (no change given; not eligible for best fare or free transfers). Money cannot be loaded to PRONTO on buses.
Riders can load money to PRONTO through the mobile app or online at ridePRONTO.com; over the phone at 619-595-5636; and in-person at ticket vending machines, participating retail outlets, or at the MTS Transit Store or NCTD Customer Service Centers.
There will be Month passes, good from the first day of the calendar month to the last day. There will be no rolling 30-day products.
